New Jersey’s #1 Metal Roofing Installer
Metal Roofing Chimney Flashing
Flashing a chimney may seem like a simple concept but it is one of the most important aspects of any metal roof or shingle roof installation. Most chimneys are made of brick or stone, and unless you are a mason, you probably haven’t been on your roof much to maintain them. Quite understandably so. It’s a challenging task.
For all of our metal roof installations we use custom chimney flashing to ensure your chimney can withstand the erosion caused by rain and water flow that occurs on your roof. At Metal Roofing NJ, not only do we custom make all of our standing seam roof panels but we also custom make all of the accessories, including your chimney flashing.
What is Cut-in Flashing?
Cut-in flashing refers to flashing that actually goes into your stone or brick versus flashing that is simply caulked onto it. We utilize special machinery that cuts a groove into your stone or brick chimney and allows us to flash into the substrate preventing any water from possibly getting behind the flashing.
The Importance of Proper Chimney Flashing
When it comes to any home improvement project, the details are what separates a great install from a mediocre one. For us, there is only one way to do things and that’s the right way. By installing cut-in metal flashing, you will save yourself thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs usually caused by leaks. In addition, you will save thousands more by extending the life of your chimney. Masonry work is expensive, and it is even more expensive when it is on a roof, so doing something as simple as flashing your chimney can save you a whole lot of money and headaches.
